Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km (8.1 mi) northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.
Known to be the favorite hill station of the British and even today is a popular holiday resort among the locals. It has a number of British style bungalows with flower gardens, surrounded by a charming landscape and temperate climate.
Lake Gregory and Victoria Park are added attractions. The highest mountain- Piduratalagala could be seen here. Also the sprawling Botanical Gardens at Hakgala are a few kilometers away.
